Job summary

NAPA Auto Parts is seeking a skilled machinist to read and follow technical instructions, set up and operate machine tools, and fabricate custom components with precision. You will work with a variety of machines, ensuring conformance to blueprints and repair data, while maintaining a safe, audit-ready workspace.

Preferred candidates have 5–7 years in a machine shop, strong math and geometry knowledge, and the ability to learn industry software.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, Technical School certificate, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-7 years previous experience in a machine shop on a variety of machines.
  • Knowledge of machining principles on materials.
  • Machining processes, tools and mathematics.
  • Safe use of shop equipment, processes and measuring tools.
  • Microsoft Office basics.
  • Skill to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to read standard gauges and other measuring devices.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and write instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to learn industry-related software.
  • Must be able to work in a noisy environment.
  • Ability to work safely around hazardous materials.
  • Exposure to heavy machinery.
  • Must use personal protective equipment.

Compensation

This position offers an hourly pay of $19.25. Many of our hourly positions have pay progression with set starting rates and you reach the top end of this range within 12 months of hire. For other positions, the starting rate will be determined based on individual skills, experience, and qualifications.
