Job summary

Dollar General in Chanute, KS seeks an experienced Store Manager to lead all store operations, staffing, and customer service. You will oversee hiring, training, and evaluations, ensure safety and security, and drive sales through effective merchandising and inventory control.

You will be responsible for opening/closing the store, managing cash and daily financials, and upholding company policies while fostering a positive team culture in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
• Ability to operate IBM cash registers and generate reports.
• Familiarity with inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to recruit, hire, counseling and terminate in compliance with laws and policies.
• Knowledge of safety, security and cash control policies.

Responsibilities

• Manage all employees in planning and implementing store processes (ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing).
• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees per laws and policies; ensure proper staffing.
• Provide training, conduct performance evaluations, and counsel up to termination as needed.
• Advise on pay rates and career advancement decisions.
• Communicate performance and safety expectations; lead meetings and events.
• Open and close the store reliably twice per week.
• Monitor sales, profitability, and inventory to identify trends and opportunities.
• Oversee stock replenishment, ordering plans, and cycle counts.
• Ensure merchandise is presented per standards with correct pricing and signage.
• Maintain inventory accuracy, controls on damages, markdowns and paperwork.
• Uphold cashier accountability and security procedures.
• Deliver superior customer service leadership and safe, clean store environment.
