Job summary

Dollar General Store Manager Candidate supports the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, and handling inventory and paperwork. This role helps develop an external candidate for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The candidate will assist with staffing, merchandising, inventory control, and customer service leadership while adhering to company policies and security procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise according to store manager directions.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork and controls; prepare inventories.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company policies as outlined in the handbook and SOPs.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposits of company funds in the bank.
• Maintain cash control and security practices.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store and a safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time.
