Job summary

Dollar General in the United States seeks a Store Manager to oversee all aspects of store operations, including staffing, training, ordering, stocking and customer service. You will drive sales, ensure safety, and maintain financial integrity through cash control and performance management.

This role requires strong leadership and adherence to company policies. Candidates should have a high school diploma and retail management experience; bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and cashier accountability.
• Experience with IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills and teamwork capabilities.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, and termination practices, with compliance.
• Knowledge of cash, safety and facility control policies.
• Good organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to solve problems in varied situations.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred at some store locations.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees while complying with labor laws.
• Provide training, conduct performance evaluations, and counsel as needed.
• Make recommendations on pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate expectations and coordinate safety and policies.
• Open/close store at least twice per week each.
• Evaluate operating statements for sales, profitability and turn.
• Manage inventory and ordering to meet in-stock targets weekly.
• Ensure efficient staging, stocking and storage of merchandise.
• Present merchandise according to practices with pricing and signage.
• Maintain accurate inventory, control damages and shrink, and process paperwork.
• Maintain cash controls and security practices.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Keep store clean, safe, and well-organized.
• Ensure necessary tools and equipment are available.
• Follow SOPs and company communications; ensure compliance.
• Complete all required paperwork on time.
