Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a store leadership professional to manage all store employees and execute effective planning and implementation of store processes including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation and selling.

The role requires recruiting and developing staff, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and maintaining strong customer service while meeting in-stock and sales targets. A valid driver's license is required and management experience in retail is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees according to federal and state labor laws and Company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provides proper training for employees; conducts performance evaluations; identifies gaps for appropriate solutions and/or counseling, up to and including termination.
• Makes recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates performance, conduct and safety expectations regularly; coordinates meetings and events to encourage safety, security and policies.
• Ensures that the store is appropriately staffed and effectively opened and closed each day.
• Evaluates operating statements to identify business trends (sales, profitability, and turn), expense control opportunities, shrink, and errors.
• Orders to ensure meeting or exceeding of in-stock targets; reviews ordering plan and inventory management issues weekly.
• Facilitates efficient staging, stocking and storage of merchandise following Company work processes.
• Ensures merchandise presentation and pricing adhere to standards and signage is correct.
• Maintains accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and security controls.
• Ensures financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash-control procedures.
• Provides superior customer service leadership and maintains a clean, safe store environment.
• Ensures store is adequately equipped with tools and resources to perform tasks.
• Follows Company SOPs, Employee Handbook, and communications; ensures compliance.
• Completes all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
