Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervise staff, manage inventory, and handle stocking and receiving. This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

You will participate in recruiting, merchandising, cash handling, and daily store operations while upholding company policies and ensuring a safe, customer‑focused shopping environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and staging, stocking, and pricing of merchandise.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, scanning, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
