Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a General Manager to oversee all store operations, including staffing, training, and policy adherence.

You will monitor sales, inventory accuracy, customer service, and safety, while leading a team to achieve in-stock targets and financial integrity.

The role emphasizes scheduling, adherence to corporate policies, and maintaining a clean, secure shopping environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• 1 year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to federal and state labor laws and company policies.
• Provide proper training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; identify gaps and counsel or terminate as needed.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events.
• Ensure store is staffed and opened/closed as required; manage schedule.
• Evaluate sales, profitability, and inventory turns; identify opportunities for cost control.
• Maintain in-stock targets; review ordering plans and cycle counts.
• Ensure merchandise is presented per established practices and pricing/signage.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and control damages and shrink.
• Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash controls.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Keep store clean, safe, and well organized; ensure necessary tools are available.
• Adhere to SOPs and company communications; complete paperwork on time.
