Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to lead a busy retail location in Indiana. You will oversee staffing, training, inventory, and customer service while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

The role requires strong leadership, strong communication, and attention to detail to maintain a high standard of store operations. The position emphasizes safety, accurate cash handling, merchandising excellence, and daily opening/closing routines, with a focus on achieving sales targets

Qualifications

• Ability to recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to federal and state labor laws and Company policies.
• Provide proper training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; identify gaps for solutions or counseling.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings to promote safety and policies.
• Ensure store staffing and daily opening/closing; manage opening at least twice and closing at least twice weekly.
• Evaluate operating statements for trends, profitability, shrink, and errors.
• Oversee ordering to meet in-stock targets; review weekly ordering plans and BSR/cycle counts.
• Facilitate efficient staging, stocking and storage of merchandise per company processes.
• Maintain merchandise presentation, pricing and signage according to standards.
• Maintain accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns and paperwork.
• Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability and security practices.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Keep store clean, organized and safe for staff and customers.
• Ensure necessary tools are available to perform tasks.
• Follow SOPs and company communications; ensure employee compliance.
• Complete paperwork and documentation according to deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees according to laws and Company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provides proper training for employees; conducts performance evaluations; identifies gaps for solutions and/or counseling.
• Makes recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates performance, conduct and safety expectations regularly; coordinates meetings and events to encourage safety, security and policies.
• Ensures that the store is appropriately staffed and effectively opened and closed each day; opens the store a minimum of two times per week; closes the store a minimum of two times per week.
• Evaluates operating statements to identify business trends (including sales, profitability, and turn), expense control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
• Orders to ensure the meeting or exceeding of in-stock targets; reviews ordering plan, seasonal direction and inventory management issues on a weekly basis; follows up on BSR/cycle counts.
• Facilitates the efficient staging, stocking and storage of merchandise by following defined Company work processes.
• Ensures that all merchandise is presented according to established practices; utilize fixtures properly including presentation, pricing and signage.
• Maintains accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Ensures the financial integrity of the store through strict cashier accountability, key control, and adherence to stated Company security practices and cash control procedures.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Maintains a clean, well-organized store; facilitates a safe and secure working and shopping environment.
• Ensures that the store is adequately equipped with tools necessary to perform required tasks.
• Follows Company policies and procedures as outlined in SOP manual, Employee Handbook, and Company communications; ensures employee compliance.
• Completes all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
