Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager in the United States Indiana region to oversee all store operations, including staffing, training and compliance with company policies. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations including percentages and totals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices (legal compliance).
• Understanding of cash, facility and safety control policies.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees per federal/state laws and company policies.
• Provide training, conduct performance evaluations, and counsel or terminate when needed.
• Make recommendations on employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; lead meetings and events.
• Open and close the store, with a minimum of two openings and two closings per week.
• Analyze operating statements to spot trends in sales, profitability and shrink.
• Manage ordering to meet in-stock targets; review weekly planning and cycle counts.
• Facilitate staging, stocking and storage of merchandise per processes.
• Ensure merchandise presentation, pricing, signage and fixtures are correct.
• Maintain accurate inventory and control damages, markdowns and paperwork.
• Ensure cashier accountability, cash control and security practices.
• Provide strong customer service leadership and safe, clean store environment.
• Ensure tools and equipment are available for tasks.
• Follow SOPs and complete documentation by deadlines.
