Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help maintain a clean, well-organized store focused on the customer. You will support the Store Manager in supervising staff, merchandising, paperwork, and deposits to maximize profitability and protect assets.

The role involves cash handling, scheduling, training, safety meetings, and ensuring policy compliance. It requires readiness to manage store tasks and leadership in the absence of the Store Manager.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems and handle diverse situations.
• Organized with attention to detail and able to follow procedures.
• Able to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions and manuals.
• Capable of basic math calculations and generating cashier reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling, deposits, and security practices.
• Willingness to drive to the bank to deposit money.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service leadership and operate cashier systems.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling, training, safety meetings, and policy adherence.
• Manage merchandise receiving, stocking, restocking and displays.
• Maintain accurate inventory, controls for damages and markdowns.
• Support planogram implementation and merchandising presentation.
• Ensure cash control, refunds, overrides, and deposit procedures are adhered to.
• Assist in store operations during Store Manager's absence.
