Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager in Onawa, IA to lead daily store operations and oversee staffing, training, and customer service excellence. You will recruit, coach, and evaluate staff while enforcing safety and policy compliance.

You will manage inventory, ordering, pricing, merchandising and open/close procedures, ensuring accuracy and strong store performance through effective leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams and safety rules.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to laws and policies; ensure staff coverage.
• Provide training, conduct performance evaluations and counsel on gaps as needed.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings.
• Ensure store is staffed and opened/closed each day.
• Open/close the store personally at least twice weekly.
• Evaluate operating statements to identify trends, expenses and shrink.
• Review ordering plan and inventory issues; conduct weekly stock reviews.
• Facilitate staging, stocking and storage of merchandise.
• Ensure merchandise presentation, pricing and signage accuracy.
• Maintain inventory accuracy; control damages and markdowns.
• Maintain financial integrity via cashier accountability and cash control.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Maintain a clean, safe store environment and proper tools for tasks.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs and paperwork deadlines.
