Job summary

Dollar General seeks an experienced store manager to lead daily operations, staffing, merchandising, and customer service across all store processes.

You will oversee ordering, receiving, stock, pricing, and safety compliance, train staff, conduct evaluations, and drive sales while controlling expenses in a fast-paced retail environment. This role requires strong communication, leadership, and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules and procedures.
• Perform basic math calculations for invoices, pricing and counts.
• Knowledge of cash handling including deposits and cashier accountability.
• Operate IBM cash registers to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination with legal compliance.
• Familiar with cash, safety and facility control policies.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees and staff the store.
• Provide proper training, conduct evaluations and address gaps or counseling.
• Make recommendations on pay rates and advancement opportunities.
• Communicate performance, safety expectations and coordinate meetings.
• Ensure store is staffed and opened/closed daily.
• Open and close the store at least twice weekly.
• Evaluate operating statements for trends, expenses and shrink.
• Manage ordering to meet in-stock targets; review weekly plans.
• Staging, stocking and storage of merchandise per company processes.
• Present merchandise with correct pricing and signage.
• Maintain inventory levels and control damages and markdowns.
• Ensure cash control and security procedures are followed.
• Provide strong customer service leadership.
• Maintain a clean, safe store environment.
