Job Summary

The Assistant Store Leader position is a developmental role aimed at preparing individuals for the Store Leader position. The role requires leading by example, understanding, enforcing, and promoting safety standards. The Assistant Store Leader represents the organization professionally through appearance, language, and behavior, and fosters an environment of mutual respect, inclusion, diversity, and dignity.

Job Description

  • Experience Required: 3 to 5 years, including 3+ years in leadership roles across multiple business lines
  • Experience Desired: Retail leadership experience
  • Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds


Job Responsibilities

  • Model and promote safe work practices and food safety, encouraging a zero-defects attitude through proper training, coaching, and recognition of Team Leaders and Members. Ensure equipment maintenance, cleanliness, and sanitation standards are met.
  • Foster inclusion, diversity, mutual respect, and dignity among staff.
  • Follow and enhance the Assistant Store Leader Work Design to improve operational efficiency.
  • Create a positive work environment through team-building events and activities to boost morale.
  • Recognize outstanding performance and address underperformance by analyzing service metrics.
  • Participate in final interviews and collaborate with Team Leaders on hiring decisions within areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure comprehensive onboarding and training for all Team Members to promote retention and efficiency.
  • Oversee and evaluate training programs to reduce turnover and control labor costs.
  • Support the ongoing development of diverse talent and identify candidates for the Team Leader Development Program.
  • Hold regular team meetings to communicate updates and gather feedback.
  • Engage daily with customers to identify trends, set goals, and implement action plans.
  • Communicate the company's strategic and store-specific plans to Team Leaders, ensuring alignment in daily operations.
  • Maintain accurate departmental financial records, including sales, purchases, and inventory counts.
  • Manage Team Member scheduling using SMART Track and delegate tasks according to business needs and collective bargaining agreements (if applicable).
