Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Cashier/Stocker to act as a lead in the absence of Store Manager. You will help set plan-o-grams, provide exceptional customer service, and maximize store profitability while protecting assets.

Responsibilities include unloading trucks, stocking and rotating merchandise, assisting customers, operating the cash register, and maintaining a clean, organized store. Prior supervisory exposure is preferred; equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to operate IBM cash register functions.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices.
• Effective interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks according to store procedures.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons and totes.
• Stock merchandise; rotate and face shelves and build displays.
• Restock returned and recovered merchandise.
• Order zones and drop shipment categories as directed by Store Manager.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance.
• Assist customers by locating merchandise.
• Maintain store cleanliness and safety.
• Greet customers entering the store.
• Operate register and bag merchandise; make change.
• Open/close the store under Area Manager direction.
• Authorize refunds/overrides; count register; handle deposits.
