Job summary

Giant Eagle, Inc. in Ohio seeks a Store Detective to deter theft and safeguard customers and Team Members. You will detect and apprehend shoplifters using CCTV and direct observation within a multi-store environment.

Responsibilities include documenting incidents, testifying when required, reporting concerns to the loss prevention team, and maintaining a safe store environment through vigilant patrols and strong customer interactions.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in security or retail environments.
• Experience in retail grocery security or law enforcement preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Detect and apprehend shoplifters using standard visual practices and CCTV.
• Utilize CCTV to create video records of incidents for law enforcement and internal use.
• Troubleshoot CCTV equipment malfunctions and report issues.
• Provide testimony in court cases as required by law enforcement or court representatives.
• Report potential internal integrity issues to the Loss Prevention team.
• Communicate effectively with customers and law enforcement personnel.
• Perform other security and loss-prevention duties to ensure a safe environment for customers and Team Members.
• Maintain safety as the top priority for all personnel and products.

Job Description

• Experience Required: 1 to 3 years
• Experience Desired: Experience working in a retail grocery environment/law enforcement or security experience
• Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalent
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
• Travel Required: Regional - Daily, Less than 10%
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities

• Detect and apprehend shoplifters with the use of standard visual practice and CCTV in multi-store environment.
• Utilize CCTV to create video records of incidents requested by law enforcement and internal departments.
• Troubleshoot, report and provide solutions for malfunctions in CCTV equipment.
• Provide testimony in court cases as required by law enforcement or court representatives.

• Communicate effectively with customers and law enforcement personnel.

The hiring range for this position is $14.75- $21.10 per hour/year. This range represents the anticipated base pay for this role. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, education, and location.
