Job summary

H MART Headquarters in Lyndhurst, NJ seeks a Store Designer / Jr. Architectural Designer to develop architectural layouts, space plans, and construction docs for new stores and renovations using AutoCAD.

You will collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal teams to coordinate design requirements and resolve issues. Review drawings for accuracy, support permitting and scheduling, and conduct site visits to evaluate conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction or related field or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years in architecture, design, engineering, or construction environment.
• Strong AutoCAD proficiency and understanding of architectural drawings.
• Knowledge of space planning, construction documentation, and codes.
• Strong coordination, communication, and multi-project management.
• Read and coordinate architectural and engineering drawings.
• Korean/English bilingual is preferred.
• Experience with retail, commercial or large-scale interiors is a plus.

Description

Responsibilities but not limited to:

• Develop and coordinate architectural layouts, space plans, and construction documents for new store and renovation projects using AutoCAD.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal teams to coordinate design requirements and resolve project issues.
• Review architectural and engineering drawings for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
• Support project planning, permitting, bidding, scheduling, and construction coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct site visits and field verification as needed to evaluate existing conditions and support design development.
• Maintain project drawings, revisions, and documentation while managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of professional experience in an architecture, design, engineering, or construction-related environment.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Solid understanding of architectural drawings, space planning, and construction documentation.
• General understanding of building codes, construction methods, and architectural coordination.
• Strong spatial awareness and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and coordinate architectural and engineering drawings.
• Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work with multiple disciplines.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated, organized, and capable of following projects through from planning to completion.
• Adobe Creative Suite proficiency.
• Experience with SketchUp, Enscape, or other visualization tools is a plus.
• Previous experience with retail, commercial, hospitality, or large-scale interior/architectural projects is a plus.
• Experience with project management, construction administration, permitting, or consultant coordination is a strong plus.
• Korean and English bilingual proficiency is preferred.

Salary Range: $68,200 - $86,400

*Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, skills, and other job-related factors.
