Job summary

Cavender’s Department Manager position is a leadership role within the Store Management Team. You will supervise cashiers, Sales Associates and Key Carriers, while driving department sales and maintaining excellent store presentation.

You’ll coach staff on product knowledge and selling techniques, handle daily operations, and help ensure a safe, organized, and customer-focused environment in line with Cavender’s standards.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to sell product and manage a retail department.
• Proven ability to drive results, develop talent, excel in customer service and exercise sound decision making and judgement.
• Ability to comprehend basic instructions, interpret documents and apply abstract principles to a wide range of complex tasks.
• Associate must be able to read English.
• Associate must be able to understand English.
• Associate must be able to stay alert and productive during work hours assigned.

Responsibilities

• Support Cavender’s Culture and drive Mission, Vision, and Values.
• Perform tasks of Cashier, Sales Associate and Key Carrier as needed.
• Maintain active role in personal selling and meet/exceed sales per hour goals.
• Act as Manager on Duty as assigned and supervise store associates to deliver Best of the WEST service.
• Open and close store as directed; address customer complaints and handle returns/exchanges.
• Increase sales, maintain profit structure, and reduce controllable expenses using key metrics.
• Lead training of store associates on sales techniques, product knowledge and company expectations.
• Ensure store looks clean and well-presented; enforce visual standards and professional appearance.
• Understand and execute all company policies; participate in Loss Prevention measures.
• Track department performance and contribute to store goals for sales, payroll, and customer experience.
• Monitor timecard exceptions and manage department personnel matters; report safety incidents promptly.
