Job summary

The Kroger Co. in Seattle seeks an experienced Construction Manager to execute store construction projects within scope and budget, representing the company on-site with contractors and vendors. You will lead Planning, bidding, and supervision efforts, ensuring on-time delivery and ROI on capital investments.

You will manage resources, document progress, and enforce safety and quality standards while modeling Kroger’s core values of respect, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, construction management, or related field—or 5+ years CM experience.
• Ability to read and understand construction documents (L7/8).
• Experience leading retail management and contractors through moderately difficult to difficult projects (L7/8 or L8).

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and manage resources for a cost-effective project completed within scope and budget.
• Prepare timely requisitions for major equipment, fixtures and supply items.
• Receive proposals, review architectural docs, and award contracts adequate for bidding installations by contractors.
• Ensure contractors perform in accordance with plans and specs.
• Provide documentation and records throughout the construction process.
• Minimize change orders to reduce company cost.
• Authorize expenditures within approved scope.
• Coordinate remodel activities to minimize sales and EBITDA loss.
• Prepare ROI analyses for capital investments (L8).

• Supervise and coach direct reports; conduct performance reviews.
