Job summary

Family Dollar in Wilmer, Texas is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, serve customers, and develop the team.

You will assist with ordering, merchandising, payroll and loss prevention, and ensure a clean, safe store environment while upholding company policies. The role emphasizes strong communication and leadership, with the ability to lift up to 55 lbs and work in a fast-paced, friendly Retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical duties including walking, standing, bending, and repetitive lifting
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures
• Follow corporate directives and maintain store displays and cleanliness
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll, scheduling, cash handling, and loss prevention
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines
• Support Store Manager in training and developing Store Associates
• Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff
• Other duties as assigned
