Job summary

NetApp, Inc. is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to lead a team advancing storage media technologies across ONTAP and broader storage offerings.

You will drive qualification, innovation, and system-level performance for enterprise-scale deployments spanning on-premises, cloud, and AI infrastructure. You will guide architecture, mentor engineers, and collaborate with vendors and product managers to deliver reliable and scalable storage solutions.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with 10+ years in systems software or storage.
• Strong systems programming expertise in C/C++ on Linux/UNIX, incl. multithreading and distributed systems.
• Deep knowledge of Core Data Foundation technologies: RAID, storage management, data protection, scalability.
• Extensive experience with storage media: NVMe, SAS, SATA, HDDs, flash, ZNS, firmware qualification.
• Knowledge of FC, SAS HBAs, NVMe-oF, PCIe, and storage networking protocols.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers developing storage media, RAID, and storage management in ONTAP.
• Drive onboarding, qualification, and integration of new storage media and firmware.
• Define roadmaps and qualification strategies with vendors and product teams.
• Improve storage resiliency, availability, and performance across large deployments.
• Oversee architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise storage infrastructure.
• Investigate complex system-level issues involving media behavior and performance.
• Mentor engineers and foster ownership, innovation, and engineering excellence.
