Role
Responsible for receiving, organizing, stocking, and maintaining alcoholic beverages and related merchandise in a liquor store. The position requires strong knowledge of liquor products, safe handling practices, inventory organization, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
Responsibilities
- Receive and unload liquor, beer, wine, and other merchandise from deliveries.
- Verify incoming shipments against invoices and check quantities, product types, and condition.
- Stock shelves, coolers, displays, and storage areas according to store standards.
- Organize liquor inventory by brand, category, size, and product type for easy access.
- Rotate stock and monitor products for damaged, leaking, expired, or improperly stored merchandise.
- Maintain an organized and clean stockroom, sales floor, and cooler areas.
- Assist with inventory counts and report low-stock or overstocked items to management.
- Safely move and lift cases, boxes, kegs, and other heavy merchandise.
- Assist customers with locating products and provide basic product information when needed.
- Maintain attractive and properly faced merchandise displays.
- Follow all store policies and applicable laws regarding the handling and sale of alcoholic beverages.
- Assist sales associates and management with restocking during busy periods.
- Help maintain a safe work environment and promptly report spills, damaged products, or other hazards.
Required Work Experience
- Previous liquor store, beverage, wine, beer, or spirits industry experience is required.
- Experience stocking and handling alcoholic beverages in a retail environment.
- Familiarity with major liquor, beer, and wine brands and common product categories.
- Previous experience receiving deliveries, checking invoices, stocking shelves, and organizing inventory.
- Experience working in a fast-paced retail environment is preferred.
- Ability to safely lift and move cases of alcoholic beverages and other merchandise.
- Knowledge of responsible alcohol retailing and age-verification requirements.
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Additional education or training in retail, inventory management, beverage merchandising, or the alcohol/beverage industry is a plus.
- Any required state or local alcohol-service training or certification is preferred.
