Job Overview:

The primary role of the STNA is to provide direct patient care to Hospice of Cincinnati patients under the supervision of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with basic activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding, and ambulation, as well as offering companionship and emotional support, especially during crises. The position requires knowledge of safety policies and adherence to approved procedures.

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (2 years in General Studies)
• Age 17 with work permit
• Successful completion of Home Health Aide competency skills checklist as per Medicare regulations during orientation, including Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)
• STNA Certification or completion of Nursing Student Clinical Training; consideration for applicants interested in completing STNA program upon hire
• Clinical and customer service experience

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform basic patient care tasks under nurse supervision, including bathing, feeding, ambulation assistance, and providing emotional support, even during crises
• Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, patients, and families
• Conduct basic cleaning of patients' immediate environments
• Perform equipment and supply checks, report issues, restock supplies, and monitor supply rooms
• Maintain accurate documentation of clinical interactions and patient status, demonstrating basic technological proficiency

Working Conditions:

• Occasional climbing, kneeling, and lifting (<10 lbs, 11-50 lbs, 50+ lbs)
