Job description

Job Overview:

The primary role of the STNA is to provide direct patient care to Hospice of Cincinnati patients under the supervision of a registered nurse. The STNA assists with basic activities of daily living, including bathing, feeding, and ambulation, and offers companionship and emotional support, even during crises. The position requires knowledge of safety policies and adherence to approved procedures.

Job Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (2 years in General Studies)
  • Age 17 with a work permit
  • Successful completion of Home Health Aide competency skills checklist as per Medicare regulations, including Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)
  • STNA Certification, or completion of Nursing Student Clinical Training, or willingness to complete STNA program upon hire
  • Clinical and customer service experience
Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform basic patient care tasks under nurse supervision, including bathing, feeding, ambulation assistance, and providing emotional support
  • Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, patients, and families
  • Maintain cleanliness in patients' living areas
  • Conduct equipment and supply checks, report issues, restock supplies, and monitor supply rooms
  • Ensure accurate documentation of clinical interactions and patient status, demonstrating basic technological proficiency
