The New York Racing Association seeks a Stewards Assistant to support the Stewards Office with file management, reporting, and day-to-day inquiries. This role requires handling suspensions, inquiries, and medical/administration tasks in a busy racing environment.
Responsibilities include preparing NYRA Stewards and HISA reports, receiving calls, assisting with race day scratches, and maintaining office records and supplies. A strong typing and communication skill set is essential for success.

The NYRA Steward Assistant is a representative of the NYRA Steward and must hold themselves to the highest level of Integrity. The NYRA Stewards assistant is responsible for maintaining files and records in the Stewards Office, including New York State Suspensions and Penalty book, Steward Inquiries, Jockey suspensions, HISA/ HIWU suspensions. Responsible for creating and maintaining NYRA Stewards reports and HISA reports and rulings. Answers phone and directs calls to appropriate parties. Monitors daily racing forms and Clockers published works, records findings for Stewards list daily. Interacts with all racing participants as necessary on race day to gather information as needed by NYRA Steward. Conducts Breathalyzer testing for jockeys every race day.

The position is primarily sedentary in nature and does not require any special physical demands. Work is performed in an office environment and involves prolonged sitting, typing, and viewing a computer screen.
$21.32 - $28.79/ hr
