Job Description
Supervise, train, and inspect the performance of assigned Stewarding staff, ensuring all procedures meet hotel standards. Assist where necessary to ensure excellent guest service.
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
- Ensure proper maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment only as intended.
- Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests regardless of busyness or time of day.
- Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
- Resolve guest complaints to ensure satisfaction.
- Monitor cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of work areas.
- Ensure staff reports to work; document lateness or absences.
- Coordinate staff breaks.
- Monitor staff performance and address deficiencies.
- Prepare and review staff assignments and priorities.
- Communicate changes to shift assignments as needed.
- Identify and delegate resolution of issues compromising standards.
- Check supply levels, complete requisitions, and submit to management.
- Inspect storage areas for cleanliness and organization.
- Check workstations for supplies, cleanliness, and mechanical issues; instruct staff to correct deficiencies.
- Review service needs with Stewarding and ensure requirements are met.
- Maintain equipment par levels.
- Ensure compliance with health regulations and hotel standards.
- Monitor temperature and chemical solution requirements for dishwashing and storage.
- Maintain pest control standards.
- Assist with banquet functions as assigned.
- Support Stewarding staff to maintain standards.
- Provide performance feedback to the Executive Steward.
- Maintain records of attendance and disciplinary actions.
- Complete maintenance work orders and coordinate repairs.
- Handle requests for additional wares courteously and follow up.
- Report disciplinary issues and participate in employee counseling.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in food service or janitorial roles.
- Previous supervisory experience required.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and chemical handling.
- High school diploma or equivalent vocational training.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and non-verbally.
- Legible communication and direction skills.
- Basic arithmetic skills.
