Job description

Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center is a state-of-the-art, full-service meetings and resort destination that caters to groups of all sizes, as well as families seeking a world-class experience in the epicenter of the premier sports and entertainment district in the country. Located centrally between Dallas and Fort Worth, near iconic sports stadiums such as Globe Life Field (home of the 2023 World Series Texas Rangers) and AT&T Stadium (home of the Dallas Cowboys), the 888-room resort features five restaurants and lounges, two pools with an authentic sandy beach, cabanas, a water slide, a fitness center, full-service spa and salon, and 266,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

Assist in maintaining the highest level of cleanliness, organization, safety, and production in your areas of responsibility. Supervise a staff of 15-25 at any given time, coordinating their work to accomplish assignments efficiently. This position requires excellent attention to detail, communication, initiative, teamwork, and promptness. Strong people skills, customer service, and communication abilities are mandatory. You must be able to communicate effectively within the department, multitask, maintain clear penmanship, and work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. Regular attendance and good interpersonal relations are essential.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Support safety in kitchen and all other hotel areas, cooperating with team members.
  • Prioritize and delegate work assignments to staff.
  • Monitor completion of daily tasks.
  • Coordinate with culinary, banquet, and outlet managers to meet their needs.
  • Assist in equipment maintenance by notifying engineering of repairs.
  • Ensure proper use of equipment and cleaning supplies.
  • Maintain organization of food and beverage equipment and supplies in all areas.
  • Train assigned staff and periodically evaluate their abilities.
  • Ensure banquet functions are properly set and stewarding responsibilities are met on time.
  • Maintain compliance with health department, Steritech, and safety regulations in stewarding areas.
  • Promote safety awareness and manage inventory, including quarterly counts and chemical monitoring.
  • Manage daily operations in the absence of the Executive Steward or Assistant.
  • Attend daily BEO meetings and prepare setup sheets in advance.
  • Assist with receiving stewarding supplies and execute emergency procedures per hotel standards.
  • Ensure all equipment and food items are cleared after breakdowns.

Supportive Functions and Responsibilities

  • Report to work on time, in proper uniform, and adhering to appearance standards.
  • Communicate problems and unusual matters promptly.
  • Maintain politeness, friendliness, and helpfulness to guests, management, and colleagues.
  • Participate in hotel meetings and training sessions.
  • Apply teamwork skills consistently.
  • Follow emergency, safety, and hotel policies and procedures.
  • Stay informed about hotel updates and changes.
  • Keep work area and equipment clean and in excellent condition.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong guest service skills.
  • Previous stewarding experience in a large hotel preferred.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift and push over 40 lbs.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
