Job summary

Arizona Grand Resort & Spa is seeking a dynamic leader to head the stewarding operation, ensuring a clean, safe, and seamless environment behind the scenes for culinary teams and events.

You will direct daily stewarding across kitchens, banquet spaces, and event support, coach staff, coordinate with culinary leadership, and uphold health, sanitation, and safety standards to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous hot- and cold-food preparation experience required.
  • Mechanical and kitchen-equipment repair experience required.
  • At least two years of stewardship supervisory experience required.
  • Current Arizona Food Service Worker Card required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and hold team members accountable.
  • Comfort working in varying kitchen temperatures and a fast-paced banquet environment.
  • Ability to stand, reach, bend, stoop, and lift regularly.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or push materials and equipment—including loads up to 200 pounds with carts or appropriate equipment.
  • Working knowledge of kitchen equipment operation, maintenance, sanitation practices, and chemical safety.
  • Basic math skills for requisitions, measurements, inventory, and chemical usage.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English with team members and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily stewarding operations across kitchens, food preparation areas, banquet spaces, and event support functions.
  • Lead, coach, schedule, and evaluate dishwashers and banquet stewards, building a reliable, accountable, service-minded team.
  • Partner with the Assistant Stewarding Manager, Banquet Chef, and culinary leadership to anticipate conventions, catering, and daily resort needs.
  • Coordinate work assignments, breaks, deliveries, dish-out line setup, and event-related food transport with precision and urgency.
  • Ensure food, equipment, linens, supplies, and cleaning products are stored, handled, and delivered safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain immaculate ballroom kitchen and back-of-house areas per resort standards and health code.
  • Champion compliance with health, fire, sanitation, and safety regulations, including chemical use.
  • Inspect completed stewarding assignments and ensure readiness for service.
  • Safeguard inventory and equipment with proper handling and maintenance.
  • Operate company vehicles, including flatbed trucks, to deliver food and supplies as needed.
  • Support additional operational priorities as assigned by the Executive Banquet Chef.

What You’ll Lead
  • Direct daily stewarding operations across kitchens, food preparation areas, banquet spaces, and event support functions.

  • Champion compliance with health, fire, sanitation, and safety regulations, including the correct use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Inspect completed stewarding assignments and ensure every set, station, and support area is ready for service.
  • Safeguard department inventory and equipment through thoughtful controls, proper handling, maintenance, and accurate organization.
  • Operate company vehicles, including flatbed trucks, to deliver food and supplies to banquet areas as needed.
  • Support additional operational priorities as assigned by the Executive Banquet Chef.
