Job summary

The Heathman Hotel in downtown Portland seeks a reliable kitchen support team member to maintain a clean, organized work area and assist with basic food preparation as needed.

As part of Makeready’s team, you will load and unload dishwashing machines, wash items by hand, store clean dishes, and help ensure peak period service runs smoothly with an efficient approach and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in kitchen support or dishwashing preferred.
• Ability to maintain clean and sanitized workspaces.
• Efficient and organized with ability to handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload dishwashing machines
• Wash specific items by hand (e.g wooden cutting boards, large pots and delicate china)
• Store clean dishes, glasses and equipment accordingly
• Ensure there are enough clean dishes, glasses, and utensils, especially during peak hours
• Check washing machines’ operation and promptly report any technical/performance issues
• Efficient personality
• Ability to maintain multiple projects and high priority needs as required

This individual is a crucial part of the kitchen. This person knows that a successful culinary experience can only be created with sanitized and well-maintained equipment and facilities. Their primary role is to maintain a clean kitchen, properly organize the restaurant and back of house area, and assists with the preparation of food as need.
