Job summary

The Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary, NC, seeks a Steward/Dishwasher to maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen and dish pit in a fine dining setting. You will wash china, glassware, silverware, pots and pans, and keep the area organized with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities include daily floor care, waste removal, and adhering to safety policies. The role may require last-shift breakdowns, a professional appearance, and participation in staff meetings.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 50 to 75 pounds.
• Daily washing and sanitizing of china, glassware, silverware, pots, pans and food service equipment.
• Maintain proper daily floor care and trash, cardboard and grease removal.
• Break down the dish pit area if/when working last shift of the day.
• Maintain a professional, clean and well-groomed appearance and communicate professionally.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily washing and sanitizing of dishware and equipment.

• Adhere to safety policies and report injuries or incidents.
• Break down dish pit area at end of shift as needed.
• Attend departmental staff meetings and support Sous Chefs and Executive Chef.

Job description

The Steward/Dishwasher is responsible for the day to day cleaning duties of the kitchen. The Steward/Dishwasher will strive to create the safest, cleanest, most sanitary and organized environment possible.
