Job summary

DoubleTree by Hilton South Bend is seeking a Steward to maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas and support the culinary team. The role involves dishwashing, equipment setup, and ensuring supplies are replenished as needed.

Excellent team collaboration and a readiness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, are important. The position offers competitive pay and employee discounts within Hilton properties.

Qualifications

• No prior restaurant experience required.
• Ability to work in a hot, wet, humid and loud environment for long periods.
• Physically able to lift, reach, bend and stoop.
• Standing for long periods (up to 5 hours).
• Safely lift bags, cases and stacks up to 60 pounds up to 30 times per shift.

Responsibilities

• Wash and clean tableware, pots, pans and cooking equipment; keep the dish room organized.
• Load, run and unload the dish machine and report any problems immediately.
• Maintain the dish machine water temperature for a sanitary wash cycle.
• Maintain adequate levels of clean tableware for dining room and kitchen.
• Bag and haul dish room trash to dumpster at designated times.
• Be available to fill in as needed to support smooth restaurant operations.

• Assist with the setup and breakdown of kitchen equipment and supplies.
• Support the culinary team by ensuring an organized work environment and timely replenishment of supplies.
• Observe and adhere to all health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations during peak hours.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a similar role is a plus but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and safety.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays as needed.

• Keep the dish machine clean and report any functional or mechanical problems immediately.
• Monitor dish machine water temperature to ensure sanitary wash cycle.
• Wash and store all tableware and kitchenware.
• Keep dish room clean and organized.
• Maintain adequate levels of clean tableware for dining room and kitchen.
• Bag and haul dish room trash to dumpster at designed times.
• Handle tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
• Maintain adequate levels of dish detergents and cleaning supplies.
• Clean food preparation and production areas as required.
• Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor
