Job summary

Adlai E. Stevenson High School Foundation in Lincolnshire, IL seeks a College Access Coordinator to coach ~40–50 S2C Scholars, guiding them through college readiness, admissions, and financial aid.

You will design engaging curricula, run workshops, and foster mentorship with students and volunteers, collaborating with school teams and family donors for program growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Passion for expanding educational opportunities for first-generation and/or low-income students.
  • Strong communication skills including public speaking, presentations, and group facilitation.
  • Proven ability to motivate and engage high school- or college-aged students through mentoring/coaching.
  • Experience designing and leading workshops, trainings, or student programs preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and project-management abilities with the capacity to balance multiple priorities.

Adlai E. Stevenson High School Foundation (Lincolnshire, IL) is seeking an energetic, relationship-driven, and highly organized professional to join our Stevenson to College (S2C) team. The S2C College Access Coordinator supports high school students as they prepare for college by providing individualized and group guidance, building strong relationships with students and volunteer mentors, and creating meaningful opportunities that help students thrive.

S2C is a nationally recognized college access and success program that empowers first-generation and/or low-income students to navigate their path to and through college with confidence. The College Access Coordinator plays an important role in helping students discover their potential, overcome barriers, and achieve their educational goals.

This position reports to the S2C & One Family Manager and collaborates closely with a passionate team that includes the Executive Director, Administrative & Events Coordinator, Communications & Alumni Relations Manager, Alumni Relations Coordinator, Development & Scholarship Manager, S2C College Persistence Coordinator, and the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Estimated Start Date: August 3, 2026

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary coach and mentor for approximately 40-50 S2C Scholars, building strong relationships while helping students set goals, navigate the college process, and maximize opportunities for success
  • Empower students to develop confidence, self-advocacy, and college-readiness skills through individualized coaching and group experiences
  • Design, update, and facilitate engaging curriculum focused on college exploration, admissions, financial aid, and post-secondary planning
  • Plan and lead interactive scholar and volunteer mentor workshops, discussions, and activities that encourage engagement, personal growth, and peer connection
  • Create meaningful community-building experiences, including special events, campus visits, celebrations, and other activities that strengthen students’ sense of belonging
  • Build strong partnerships with Stevenson High School teams to ensure students are connected to available resources and opportunities
  • Lead student recruitment efforts and support volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, and engagement
  • Partner with Foundation colleagues to support fundraising initiatives, donor stewardship, program storytelling, and special events
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Passion for expanding educational opportunities for first-generation and/or low-income students
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking, presentation, and group facilitation
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, engage, and inspire high school- or college-aged students through mentoring, coaching, teaching, advising, or youth development work
  • Experience designing and leading workshops, trainings, camps, classrooms, student programs, or group activities preferred
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proven ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, volunteers, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and solutions-oriented approach to work
  • Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: college access or success programs; youth development; education; student affairs; college admissions or financial aid; nonprofit management; coaching or mentoring adolescents and young people
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred
Additional Requirements:
  • Availability to facilitate and/or support semi-regular evening and/or weekend workshops, events, and student activities
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel locally and domestically
  • Successful completion of fingerprinting and background check(s)
Salary and Benefits:

The successful candidate for this position can expect the Foundation to set the salary from $55,000 - $62,500, based on their skills and experience.
