Job summary

Logistec in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Longshoreman to perform advanced cargo handling in vessel holds and terminal operations. The role requires proficiency with forklifts, PIT operation, securing procedures, and strict safety standards.

Outdoor terminal work, exposure to weather, heavy equipment, and PPE; candidates must be able to work independently or as part of a team and contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in vessel hold operations and advanced cargo handling.
• Specialized training in PIT operation, cargo securing, and equipment use.
• Ability to work outdoors in terminal/warehouse environments with PPE and exposure to heights, noise, and weather.

Responsibilities

• Hooking on cargoes in the hold for unloading and unhooking during loading onto the vessel.
• Understanding cargo stowage, dunnage & securing requirements.
• Operate PIT’s stowing cargo on the vessel - Small Forklift or Yard Mule.
• Operate chain & chop saws.
• Secure cargo with lashings and carpentry, and safely remove lashings/securements.
• Visually inspect the lifting gear.
• Maintain a clean work area.
