Job summary

MilliporeSigma in Burlington, MA, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join the North America Validation Services Laboratory. This role supports multiple laboratory departments, reporting to the Lab Manager, with duties spanning sterilization, inventory, documentation, and reporting.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years lab experience or a Bachelor’s in a scientific field, strong communication, and excellent organization.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 2+ years laboratory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in any scientific field accepted.
• Proficient in aseptic technique and good laboratory practices.
• Familiarity with sterilization procedures and safety protocols.
• Understanding of Data Integrity and Good Documentation Practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization of laboratory materials.
• Keep the sterile material inventory complete and organized, including conducting regular inventories.
• Prepare materials for autoclaving, ensuring proper wrapping and labeling. Operate autoclaves and dishwashing machines following established procedures, while complying with all regulatory and company policies regarding sterilization processes.
• Load and unload materials into the autoclave for sterilization.
• Monitor sterilization cycles to ensure proper operation and effectiveness. Record and document sterilization parameters and results accurately.
• Perform biological and chemical indicator tests to verify sterilization efficacy.
• Ensure proper storage of sterilized materials.
• Dispose of biohazardous waste in accordance with safety protocols.
• Compile and submit reports on sterilization activities and outcomes.
• Future opportunity to manage media sterility and conduct growth promotion tests as well as prepare laboratory media and reagents
