Job summary

South Shore Health seeks a CPD Technical Educator to lead training, orientation, and competency programs for sterile processing staff at our Massachusetts facility. The role focuses on safety, policy development, and adherence to OSHA/AAMI/AORN and Joint Commission standards.

You will design SOPs, supervise scheduling, deliver ongoing education, track staff progress, and ensure regulatory compliance while collaborating with OR and other departments.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years in a teaching position (or equivalent professional experience).
• Minimum of 2–4 years supervisory, coordinator, or lead technician experience in Sterile Processing or related field.
• Experience in adult education or willingness to enroll or continue classes to assist in educational plans.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement orientation programs for new hires and ongoing education for existing staff.
• Evaluate staff proficiency in disinfection, sterilization, and decontamination procedures through observations and audits.
• Ensure departmental compliance with OSHA, AAMI, AORN, and Joint Commission standards to ensure patient safety.
• Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on current standards and technology changes.
• Demonstrate knowledge and use of instrument tracking systems in department operations.
• Instruct staff in sterilization processes and proper loading, control settings, and documentation.
