Job summary

GBMC HealthCare is seeking a candidate for the Sterile Processing program track to complete the required practicum and join our central sterile processing team. The role emphasizes decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and instrument handling under supervision.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, successful completion of the didactic portion of the Sterile Processing Program, and provisional CRCST certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of didactic portion of Sterile Processing Program.
• Provisional CRCST certification (HSPA).

Responsibilities

• Learn the layout and functions of all areas within the sterile processing department (Decontamination, prep and pack, case carts, assembly, sterilization, etc.).
• Understand the major processes including decontamination, sterilization, sterile storage, assembly, case cart picking, and testing.
• Instrument handling and inspection; identify and inspect surgical instruments for missing or malfunctioning parts.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness of the unit in accordance with Infection Control standards.
• Prepare for certification completion and 400 practicum hours.
