Job summary

Owensboro Health Regional Hospital is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure the proper cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation in a fast-paced hospital environment.

You will handle instrument decontamination, packaging, and timely delivery to Surgery, Cath Lab, Women’s Services, and external clinics, while maintaining meticulous records and participating in quality improvements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required upon hire.
• CRCST/CSPDT/CST or TS-C certified within 24 months of employment.
• No prior experience required for this role.

Responsibilities

• Ensures sterile processing policies meet regulatory standards.
• Receives, decontaminates, sterilizes instruments and distributes equipment per IFU.
• Ensures timely delivery of instrumentation to Surgery, Cath Lab, Women’s Services and clinics.
• Receives, inspects, and disassembles instrumentation with IFU guidance.
• Operates cleaning and sterilizing equipment per IFU.
• Performs leak tests to verify scope integrity before cleaning or high-level disinfection.
• Maintains records of sterilization procedures and quality monitoring results.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and keeps area clean.
• Assembles surgical case carts per physician preference and picking lists.
