Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, clean, and sterilize instruments and supplies. You will prepare surgical case carts, verify packaging, and support infection control policies in a busy facility.

Required is a High School Diploma or GED with 1–2 years of sterile processing experience; CSPDT or CSPM certification pathways should be pursued within the designated period. Competitive hourly wage offered.

Qualifications

• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Experience in high-volume, high-stress healthcare settings preferred.
• CSPDT or CSPM credentials and related certifications required or pursued within stated timelines.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination cleaning, disinfection, sterilization of supplies and equipment.
• Prepare surgical case carts and ensure proper packaging and labeling.
• Operate sterilizers, perform biological/chemical testing, and document results.
• Maintain organized work areas and comply with infection control standards.
• Pull case carts and deliver to OR in time for setup.
• Report instrument/service needs and participate in recalls if needed.
• Complete annual education and department in-services as scheduled.
