Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of recent, sterile processing experience required.
• CBSPD or IAHCSMM Central Sterile Technician certification required at time of hire.
• Strong attention to detail and comfort in a fast-paced perioperative environment.
• Clear, professional communication with the OR team and patient care areas.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments (steam and Sterrad) per policy, infection prevention guidelines, and manufacturer instructions, ensuring sets are complete and functioning.
• Monitor and document sterilization and disinfection processes, including failure monitoring and recall procedures.
• Prepare, fill, and retrieve contaminated instruments from patient care areas.
• Issue, deliver, order, and stock medical surgical instruments and supplies for patient care areas.
• Participate in ongoing education and training, and assist with other patient care needs as required.
• Opportunity for cross-training in Medical Assistant (MA) functions, providing support within the PACU and OR settings as needed.
