Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for the Ambulatory Surg Ctr-Ortho in Rochester, NY. The role supports sterile instrument handling, decontamination, and instrument maintenance in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalency with 1 year of experience or completion of REOC Sterile Processing Training Program; OR experience preferred. Competitive hourly pay and full-time schedule.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year of experience or completion of REOC Sterile Processing Training Program required
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Previous operating room or medical/surgical experience in a health care facility preferred

Responsibilities

• Follows policies and guidelines for reprocessing and assembling instruments in OR and patient care areas.
• Ensures proper care of instruments and equipment per manufacturers’ guidelines; supports quality monitoring.
• Documents information and maintains records for instruments and equipment.
• Undertakes ongoing sterile processing education, covering decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization.
• Identifies, picks, distributes supplies, delivers to appropriate areas, and tracks inventory.
• Provides test solutions for decontamination quality and consistency.
• Other duties as assigned.
