Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking a Sterile Processing Worker at 220 Hutchison Rd, Rochester, NY 14620. This full-time position offers a 40-hour work week in the Sterile Processing Department under UR - Rotating duties.

Responsibilities include inspecting, assembling, sterilizing instrument pans, trays and carts for OR, ambulatory care, hospital units and research clinics; operating steam sterilizers; maintaining stock and documenting contents to ensure sterility and readiness.

Qualifications

• One year of post-secondary education and 1 year of related materials processing experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certification as a Registered Central Sterile Processing Distribution Technician preferred.
• Computer experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• If hired on or after January 1, 2014, candidate must pass a nationally accredited central service exam within eighteen months of hire; CEU credits required annually.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, assembles, packages and sterilizes instrument pans, trays, equipment and case carts for the OR, Ambulatory Care Facilities, Hospital Units and Research Clinics.
• Operates sterilizers; prepares and dispenses sterile items; inspects and stocks supplies; performs maintenance and documentation to ensure sterility.
• Decontaminates instruments; maintains clean work areas; handles infectious waste and follows regulatory standards.
• Maintains inventory, checks stock against requisitions, and documents discrepancies; supports quality assurance and documentation requirements.
