Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing) to handle decontamination, preparation, sterilization, high level disinfection, and transport of clean and soiled reusable medical devices.

Responsibilities include assembling instrument trays for the operating room, performing sterilization, and maintaining equipment. Night shifts Mon-Fri with on-call weekends/holidays; compensation reflects federal pay scale with 37-50 days PTO and federal benefits.

Qualifications

• A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education.
• Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment.
• If using foreign education, a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency must be submitted with the transcript.
• This position is with Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs.

Responsibilities

• Disassembles reusable medical equipment (RME) and selects the correct cleaning method per manufacturer instructions.
• Inspects, assembles and determines the correct sterilization method (steam, Sterrad, Steris, etc.).
• Rotates and restocks sterile supplies and instruments for wards, clinics, and the operating room.
• Cleans and maintains sterilizers and related equipment to prevent cross contamination.
