The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in the North Chicago area is seeking an entry- to developed-level Sterile Processing Technician to perform decontamination, preparation, sterilization, high- level disinfection, and transportation of reusable medical devices (RMD) and case carts.

Applicants pending required education or certification may be referred and tentatively selected. GS-03 to GS-06 level responsibilities include following safety protocols, assembling basic instrument sets,

Qualifications

• Six months of experience in sterile processing or related work.
• Two years of education above high school with related health care courses.
• Education/Experience combination is acceptable per VA policy.

Responsabilités

• Decontaminate, prepare, sterilize, and high-level disinfect reusable medical devices (RMD).
• Transport clean and soiled RMD and prepare operating room case carts.
• Operate sterilization equipment and follow universal precautions and safety procedures.
