Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Omaha VA Medical Center is seeking a Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing) to support the Sterile Processing service line.

Responsibilities include decontamination, preparation and assembly, inspection, sterilization, and high-level disinfection of endoscopes and other reusable medical devices, along with distribution support. The incumbent ensures quality and safety in sterile processing, handling packaging, labeling, and pickup/delivery within

Qualifications

• Six months of experience demonstrating ability to perform MST work.
• One year beyond high school with health care related coursework, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of sterile processing safety and cross-contamination prevention.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate instruments and equipment to ensure aseptic conditions.
• Prepare and assemble instrument sets for procedures.
• Inspect, sterilize, and perform high-level disinfection of endoscopes, probes, and RMD.
• Label, package, and document items for storage and distribution.
• Provide distribution support to departments within the medical center.
