Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in New Orleans, LA seeks an Advanced Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing) to manage complex instrument sets and ensure sterilization of critical medical devices.

The role includes decontamination, QA checks, interaction with clinical staff, and adherence to SOPs and IFUs; work schedule is Mon-Fri, 11:00 am–7:30 am, with no telework. Applicants are evaluated under Fed Competitive path with the posted pay range.

Responsibilities

• Assembles complex instrument sets including open heart, orthopedic, cardiovascular and neurosurgical kits.
• Performs cleaning, decontamination and sterilization of endoscopic devices according to SOPs and IFUs.
• Troubleshoots equipment alarms and mechanical failures and documents QA checks.
• Communicates changes to SOPs and provides solutions to end users and leadership.
• Receives contaminated items and reprocesses per SOPs; handles noncritical equipment in the decontamination area.
