Job summary

SCA Health in Germantown, CT, seeks a Sterile Processing Clerk to maintain instruments and supplies for the surgical team. You will process, sterilize, wrap and organize instruments to support safe patient care.

Under supervision of the Clinical Leader/Registered Nurse, you will follow sterilization standards, perform disinfection, and manage inventory across the processing area. A High school diploma or GED is required; BCLS within 90 days is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Understanding of sterilization and high-level disinfection technologies.
• Prior instrument processing experience preferred.
• Prior experience as a surgical technologist/procedure technologist preferred.
• BCLS certification within 90 days of employment or current BCLS.
• Certification in instrument processing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Functions as an Instrument Processing Technician under the direction of the Clinical Leader/Registered Nurse.
• Knowledge of sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and maintenance and care of instruments and equipment.
• Knowledge of standards and practices of sterile technique.
• Cleans and/or disinfects instruments and equipment after use and returns it to the proper area.
• Cleans, wraps, sterilizes, and disinfects instruments and equipment and maintains the instrument processing area.
• Crossover duties in purchasing supplies and inventory management as directed.
