Job summary

UVA Health in Charlottesville, VA is hiring Sterile Processing Technicians to support perioperative services. Roles welcome both entry and experienced candidates with laddered opportunities based on experience, certification, and demonstrated competencies.

Technicians handle decontamination, sterilization, tray assembly, and instrument tracking to ensure safe surgeries. Training and mentorship are provided with potential for advancement within Perioperative Services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year or relevant experience preferred; CNA/EMT/PCT/CMA background valued.
• Certification through HSPA (CRCST) or CBSPD preferred for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, cleaning, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instruments.
• Prepare and assemble surgical trays following established tray listings.
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment and document parameters for compliance and safety.
• Maintain instrument/tray tracking using barcode systems.
• Support OR readiness by pulling cases, restocking supplies, and expediting instrumentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, regulated, and compliant work environment.
