UVA Health seeks Sterile Processing Technicians to support high-acuity surgical services across our perioperative environment. We welcome candidates from entry-level to experienced professionals, with pathways for certification and advancement within the Sterile Processing career ladder.

The role emphasizes decontamination, sterilization, and collaboration with Operating Room and perioperative teams to ensure readiness and infection prevention for safe surgeries.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Sterile Processing experience preferred but not required for entry-level opportunities.
• Certification through HSPA (CRCST) or CBSPD is preferred for advancement within the Sterile Processing career ladder.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to patient safety.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, cleaning, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instruments and equipment.
• Prepare and assemble surgical trays following established tray listings.
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment and document all parameters to ensure compliance and safety.
• Maintain accurate tracking of instruments and trays using barcode systems.
• Support Operating Room readiness by pulling cases, restocking supplies, and expediting instrumentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, regulated, and compliant work environment.
