Job summary

UVA Health is seeking Sterile Processing Technicians to support high-acuity surgical services across our perioperative environment. Roles are available for both entry-level and experienced professionals with opportunities for career ladder advancement.

As a Sterile Processing Technician at UVA Health, you will decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and distribute instruments, track items with barcode systems, and ensure OR readiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Sterile Processing experience preferred but not required for entry level.
• Certification through HSPA (CRCST) or CBSPD is preferred and may be required for advancement.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, cleaning, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instruments.
• Prepare and assemble surgical trays following established tray listings.
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment and document parameters to ensure compliance and safety.
• Maintain accurate tracking of instruments and trays using barcode systems.
• Support Operating Room readiness by pulling cases, restocking supplies, and expediting instrumentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, regulated, and compliant work environment.
