Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health Inc. is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technician in the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) to perform cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and handling of case carts and medical devices.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, excellent written and verbal communication, and strong computer skills; preferred experience with STERRAD sterilization and CRCST or CBSPD certification.

Responsibilities

• Process cleaning, decontamination, assembly and sterilization of instruments and devices.

• Inventory and ordering of SPD supplies.

The certified Sterile Processing Technician within the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) performs all tasks associated with the processing of surgical instruments and medical devices including cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization/high level disinfection; monitoring of environmental conditions, sterilization processes, and HLD processes; assembly and dispatching of case carts and emergency carts; and inventory and ordering of SPD supplies.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

• Experience with STERRAD sterilization.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution - CBSPD or Sterile Processing Certification1. National Certification: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPDT).

Working Conditions:

Lifts a minimum of 30 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of length of shift.
