Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). You will perform cleaning, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical devices.

Responsibilities include monitoring environmental conditions, sterilization/high level disinfection, assembling and dispatching case and emergency carts, and inventorying SPD supplies to ensure readiness for patient care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office/Google Suite).
• Experience with STERRAD sterilization preferred.

• Process sterile instruments and medical devices including cleaning, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization/disinfection.

The certified Sterile Processing Technician within the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) performs all tasks associated with the processing of surgical instruments and medical devices including cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization/high level disinfection; monitoring of environmental conditions, sterilization processes, and HLD processes; assembly and dispatching of case carts and emergency carts; and inventory and ordering of SPD supplies.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

• Experience with STERRAD sterilization.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• National Certification: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPDT).

Working Conditions:

• Lifts a minimum of 30 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of length of shift.
